Web-GIS-basierte Potenzialabschätzung des industriellen Abwärmeanfalls

Industrial and commercial waste heat should be used where technically and economically feasible, as waste heat generation implies an incomplete use of primary fuels (often scarce and fossil). The lack of information about the geographical constellation of waste heat sources and sinks is likely a major impediment for its utilisation. To estimate the total amount of waste heat arising in a region, and identify areas of high concentrations, this paper presents a web-based GIS approach by using existing data of emissions inventories to dynamically visualise waste heat in the course of a day.
