Abstract
The authors use the Aletsch Glacier in Switzerland as an example of the uses of photogrammetry in the field of glaciology. A DTM of the area was obtained using aerial imagery at scale 1:12 000 from a survey in 1991. The three dimensional data obtained for the glacier tongue were compared to a previous DTM established using aerial imagery from 1987. The extent of glacial melt is quantitatively demonstrated. -M.Dean
