Abstract
Pultruded glass fibre reinforced polymers (GFRP) as load-bearing structure are becoming increasingly prevalent in the construction sector. Up to now steel bolts used in steel construc-tion, with a diameter greater than 10 mm, are used to connect prefabricated components of a load bearing structure on the construction site. This paper presents alternative solutions for the use of this conventional connection method. The properties of bearing type shear connection with thread grooving screws, multi range blind rivets, high strength structural rivets, self drilling screws and lockbolts are examined and evaluated with regard to applicability for the connection of pultruded GFRP profiles
