Welcome to the research portal of HafenCity University Hamburg (HCU) – the University of Architecture and Metropolitan Development.

The research portal provides an overview of HCU’s diverse research activities, making research projects, publications and other scholarly activities visible.

HCU is a state university with a unique focus on the built environment. It brings together design and architecture, engineering and natural sciences, as well as the humanities and social sciences under one roof. Research at HCU addresses the key challenges of our time, with a particular focus on climate, digitalisation and social justice.

HCU is organised into three departments: The information presented in the research portal is based on HCU’s Research Information System. Data have been collected progressively since 2021 and are continuously expanded and updated. For older information and additional content, please also visit the HCU website.
