Izmir Opera Building, Architectural Design Competition, 5th Honorable Mention

A national two-stage competition organized by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality selected designs for a new opera house in Karşıyaka. From 177 submissions, 3 winners and 9 honorable mentions were chosen. The site is in a rapidly developing, socially and structurally renewing area with a prominent visual position at the entrance to İzmir Bay. The project is intended to become a symbolic cultural landmark and a regional attraction integrated with coastal urban development.
